Make a Splash at QueeraPOOLooza

Ever been to a pool party in September? If not, you’re in luck because Grand Valley’s Milton E. Ford LGBT Resource Center and Campus Recreation are hosting one fashionably late in the season at the Field House Arena pool. Queer and trans students are encouraged to “grab your fanciest swimsuit, a towel, and your GVSU ID” and join the festivities Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Those with questions can contact the LGBT Resource Center at [email protected], or stop in to their office at 1161 Kirkhof Center. Their doors are open between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Monday through Friday.

Café con Leche at Holton Hooker

Grand Valley State University is once again hosting the annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration, a months-long series of campus events running from Sept. through Nov. This year, they’re kicking off the celebration with traditional Spanish pan (bread) and café con leche (coffee with milk), served at the Holton Hooker Living and Learning Center Monday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Drop by and grab some classic morning (or afternoon) goodness in between your classes.

The Hispanic Heritage Celebration is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Latin American & Latino/a Studies program, Center for Women & Gender Equity, Latino/a Faculty Staff Association, Spectrum Health, Campus Activities Board and Latino Student Union. Those interested in learning more about the series can stop by the OMA office in 1240 Kirkhof Center or check out the line-up on their website at gvsu.edu/oma.
