Amidst multiple weather delays, the Grand Valley State football picked up another win on Saturday, Oct. 20, beating the Davenport Panthers 19-14. With the win, the Lakers move to 7-1 on the season.

Quarterback Bart Williams appeared to sustain an injury in the contest, as a sack at the end of the first half left him slow to get up. Backup quarterback Cole Kotopka played most of the fourth quarter. At this time, Williams’ health status still remains unclear.

Trailing 14-13 in the fourth quarter, Kotopka launched a back-shoulder ball to Nick Dodson, who made a few Davenport defenders miss en route to a 53-yard touchdown that would end up being the game-winning touchdown

Williams threw for 157 yards, completing 57 percent of his passes. Wide Receiver Austin Paritee led the Lakers in receiving, gaining 127 yards on seven receptions

Running back Chawntez Moss rushed for 106 yards on 20 carries in the game, scoring the first touchdown of the game for the Lakers with a 22-yard burst in the second quarter.

GVSU looks to improve upon their record next weekend, as they travel to Saginaw Valley State to play the Cardinals on Saturday, Oct. 27. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
