The Grand Valley State football team lost in the first round of the playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 17, as the Lakers fell to the Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State, 42-17

Quarterback Bart Williams had a tough time getting the offense rolling, as he was only able to complete nine of his 22 passes for 97 yards and an interception. Backup quarterback Cole Kotopka played a portion of the game, rushing for 17 yards and throwing for 20 yards, while throwing an interception of his own.

Running backs Chawntez Moss and Jack Provencher rushed for a combined 104 yards on 29 total carries in the game, with Provencher adding a touchdown.

The GVSU defense was able to make a few big plays early in the contest, as linebacker Dylan Carroll recovered a fumble in the end zone to score the first touchdown of the game for the Lakers. Tyler Bradfield led the team with nine tackles and also picked off NMSU Quarterback Braden Wright and returned it fifteen yards in the second quarter.

With the loss, Grand Valley ends their season with a 10-2 record.
