Toast with T. Haas event to be held Thursday, Nov. 30

Grand Valley State University President Thomas Haas will be joining together with graduating seniors for the bi-annual Toast with T. Haas event, which is being held on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the GVSU Pew Campus’ L.V. Eberhart Center.

The event, held during both fall and winter semesters, allows GVSU Students to engage with the university president in a setting unlike anything offered to them during their time as students. President Haas will help facilitate the transition from GVSU student into alumni with his toast, which celebrates the journey that each individual student has taken during their time spent at GVSU.

Saxophone recital set for Tuesday, Nov. 28

Saxophone students of Grand Valley State University professor Dan Graser will be performing in a saxophone studio recital from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the Sherman Van Solkema Hall of the Thomas J. and Marcia J. Haas Center for Performing Arts on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

Free of charge and open to the public, the set-list will include both solo and quartet performances from the GVSU Saxophone Studio.

‘More Than Honey’ film screening set for Tuesday, Nov. 28

The Grand Valley State University Beekeepers and the Sustainable Agriculture Project (SAP) will be joining up to facilitate a showing of the film “More Than Honey,” on Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center’s Area 51.

“More Than Honey” documents several beekeepers, scientists and others engaging in a conversation around the dwindling population of bees. The film will touch on what is potentially causing the population decrease and the impact(s) that a possible bee extinction would have on modern society.

SHAR Music Presentation for Violinists set for Tuesday, Nov. 28

SHAR Music representatives Aaron Johnson and Tereza Mitchell will be coming to Grand Valley State University for a presentation from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Thomas J. and Marcia J. Haas Center for Performing Arts Sherman Van Solkema Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

During the presentation, the SHAR representatives will be featuring numerous combinations of shoulder and chin rests that are available for violinists. Moreover, Johnson is set to bring violins and bows in with him so that attendees can try them out.
