Need an escape from the looming stress of finals? Want to take at least a moment out of your study schedule to celebrate the holidays? If so, the Campus Activities Board (CAB) has you covered. On Dec. 4, CAB will be hosting a “Let’s Get Crafty” event for students to create and decorate their own ornaments and cookies in honor of the holiday season.

“Let’s Get Crafty” is an annual event that takes many different forms over the course of the semester. From mug decorating to DIY face masks, many themes have been featured since it was first organized. As they have with all “Let’s Get Crafty” events since the first, CAB is hosting December’s event with the primary goal of helping students be creative.

“A ‘Let’s Get Crafty’ event is an annual one that happens pretty frequently throughout the semesters,” said CAB Director of Special Events Kendall Cantrell. “I came up with this event because I thought everyone will want to do something to move their focus off of studying for finals and to spend some time getting into the holiday spirit. This event is a great idea for that.”

At 8 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center’s Area 51, any and all students will be able to join in by painting wooden ornaments and frosting sugar cookies. All the decorating supplies will be provided by CAB, and there will even be some holiday music to build the mood for this festive event.

“Since most students will be stressed with work, homework, exams and their organizations, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone get together and decorate things to let their mind relieve some of that stress,” Cantrell said.

As one of the last CAB events of the semester, this event is designed to be a place that is relaxing and fun for students, so that they can have a little more time to get together with friends and make crafts with their fellow students. The event aims to be one full of holiday music and decorating that will chase away any early December chill.
