Executive director of Grand Valley State University’s Dorothy A. Johnson Center for Philanthropy, James Edwards, was selected by the Grand Rapids Urban League to receive the 2014 Drum Major Award. The award was created in honor of a speech made by Martin Luther King Jr., who said, “Yes, if you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all of the other shallow things will not matter.”
