‘Spring thing’ event set for Saturday, April 7

The Grand Valley State University Sustainable Agriculture Project (SAP) will host its annual spring open-house event, this year called “Spring Thing: Exhale,” on Saturday, April 7, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Holton-Hooker Learning and Living Center Multipurpose Room. 

“Spring Thing: Exhale” will offer yoga and meditation, live music, door prizes and more to those who attend the event. The event is a celebration and welcoming of the spring season and an opportunity for relaxation during the last weeks of the semester. Organizations such as the GVSU Farm Club, Beekeeping Club and Yoga Club will be represented at the event.

Open auditions for Shakespeare Festival 2018

Plans for the 2018 season of the Grand Valley State University Shakespeare Festival are already underway. This year’s performances will be “King Lear” and “Bard to Go.” There are casting opportunities for all students regardless of major or minor. Backstage duties are also available. 

Open auditions will be held Monday, April 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Tuesday, April 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Room 1721 of the Haas Center for Performing Arts.

Callback dates will be announced at a later date.

Erin Schrode lecture to be held Monday, April 9

Erin Schrode, an environmental activist, is set to visit Grand Valley State University to give a speech on Monday, April 9. The keynote will take place at 7 p.m. in the Mary Idema Pew Library Multipurpose Room.

Schrode, who has been described as a leading voice on sustainability and social impact, will discuss turning passions into actions. Schrode founded her nonprofit, Turning Green, before she was the age of 18 and has traveled the world to assist with various human rights causes.

‘Menstruation Celebration’ set for Wednesday, April 11

A group of Grand Valley State University students is gearing up to host an event about menstruation and access to menstrual hygiene products on Wednesday, April 11, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Glenn A. Niemeyer Learning and Living Center Multipurpose Room.

The event is also serving as a fundraiser and product drive to donate menstrual products to people in K-12 schools. During the event, attendees will be able to put together menstruation bags for the students, engage in various feminist activities and learn about sustainable menstrual products.The event is LIB 100- and 201-approved.
