Laker Kickoff Party returns
This year’s Laker Kickoff Party is set to take place at the Fieldhouse Arena on Saturday, Aug. 25. The kickoff party is an annual event that celebrates the start of the new school year.
Those who attend will have free access to food, games, dancing and giveaways. Music and entertainment will be provided by DJ Mark Witz.
This event is open to all Grand Valley State University students, and the doors will open at 9 p.m.

Library to host event for first-year students
The Lakers Takeover the Library event is being held at the Mary Idema Pew Library on Wednesday, Aug. 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is an interactive exhibit catered specifically toward first-year students. Participants will have the ability to look around and have fun in the library before the crowds and chaos of classes begin.

Student Services Center naming, dedication to take place Friday, Aug. 24
A naming and dedication ceremony is taking place Friday, Aug. 24 at the Student Services Building.
The Student Services Building, which received an addition last year, will be dedicated and renamed as the Arend and Nancy Lubbers Student Services Center. All Grand Valley State University faculty and staff are welcome to attend the event.

Meet The Greeks event set
Interested in going Greek? The Meet the Greeks Back to School Bash is taking place on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Those who attend the event will get to meet members of Greek life and learn about the 30 Grand Valley State University sororities and fraternities on campus. Free food, drinks and games will also be available.
