Elton John stopping in Grand Rapids for final tour

Elton John will be coming to the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on Monday, Oct. 15, during his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour. This will be the last tour of his musical career, so if you’ve ever wanted to see him perform live, this is the time. 

Tickets went on sale for the general public on Friday, Feb. 2. Ticket prices range from $49.50 to $224.50 and will be available for purchase at the Van Andel Arena and DeVos Place box offices, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 1-800-745-3000. Only eight tickets can be purchased per customer. 

Comedian Kevin Hart coming to Grand Rapids

Comedian Kevin Hart will be coming to the Van Andel Arena this summer on Sunday, July 22, at 7 p.m. Many venues hosting Hart sell out, so he just recently added 100 more dates to his tour schedule.

Tickets went on sale for the general public on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Ticket prices are $37.50, $52, $82 and $127.50. Tickets are available for purchase at the Van Andel Area and DeVos Place box offices, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 1-800-745-3000.

GVSU Opera Theatre presents ‘Oklahoma!’

Come support Grand Valley State University students in their production of “Oklahoma!”, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein’s first musical collaboration. Christopher Carter, GVSU alumnus, will be directing the show.

Remaining showings are Friday, Feb. 9, and Saturday, Feb. 10, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11, at 2 p.m in the Louis Armstrong Theatre in the Haas Center for Performing Arts. Admission is $14 for adults; $12 for GVSU faculty, alumni and staff; and $6 for students. 

‘Jerusalem’ movie to be shown at Celebration Cinema North

The National Geographic award-winning movie “Jerusalem” will be showing at Celebration Cinema North on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 6:30 p.m. The film offers three different vantage points of Judaism, Christianity and Islam that allow viewers to experience and understand the Holy City.

Following the movie, two pastors, one rabbi and one imam from Grand Rapids will share their experiences from their trip to Israel and Palestine. This event is LIB 100- and 201-approved. 

GVSU faculty artists to give recital

Grand Valley State University faculty will perform in a string orchestra concert in the Haas Center for Performing Arts on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m. The music for the program includes the work of Tomaso Albinoni, Aaron Copland and Claude Debussy, among others. Several of the GVSU faculty orchestra members will be playing solos.

This event is free and open to the public. 

Student theater group ReACT! to perform Monday, Feb. 12

Grand Valley State University’s anti-violence peer-education theater troupe ReACT! will perform Monday, Feb. 12, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center Pere Marquette Room. During the program, ReACT! student actors will present scenes and pose questions to the audience about what they think makes a healthy, respectful relationship.
