Laker Navy shows potential on Lake Harsha
Grand Valley State’s club rowing program put together another an impressive showing at the Cincinnati Invitational on Saturday.
The women’s varsity eight came away with a first-place finish, edging Dayton by 3.07 seconds. The men’s 1V8 found itself in a close race as well, but crossed 6.14 seconds behind Michigan for a second-place finish.
The men’s varsity fours also went wire-to-wire with the Wolverines, but found a much more favorable result. GVSU placed four boats in the top five, finishing first, second, fourth and fifth. The WV4 swept the podium, meanwhile, as the A, B and C teams finished first, second and third, respectively.
The Lakers return to action in the 20th Annual Lubbers Cup Regatta on Saturday in Spring Lake, Mich.
GVSU finishes fifth at Midwest Regional #3
Looking to follow up on its comeback win in the AMFAM Spring Invitational, the Grand Valley State men’s golf team participated in the weather-shortened NCAA Midwest Regional No. 3 over the weekend at the Elks Run Golf Course in Batavia, Ohio.
GVSU was unable to rally this time, however, finishing fifth overall as a team. The Lakers will look for a higher finish Sunday in the NCAA Midwest Regional No. 4 in Noblesville, Ind.
