Police chief to retire

Chief Barbara Bergers of the Grand Valley Police Department will be retiring later this June. The department is currently in the process of conducting a formal national search to find a replacement. Bergers has served as director of Public Safety Services since 2004, and held the position of assistant director for five years before that. Prior to coming to Grand Valley State University, Bergers worked at the Detroit Police Department for 22 years. Her last day will be June 28.
