Daine Grazulis, a junior on the Grand Valley State University women’s basketball team, returned recently from a service-learning study abroad program in Ghana that lasted for seven weeks.
During the first week, Grazulis spent time at the University of Ghana-Legon in the capital city of Accra learning about nonprofit organizations in the country (referred to as non-govermental organizations). She then spent six weeks in the coastal town of Winneba, observing cultural differences while doing some volunteer work in nearby areas. The 6-foot-3-inch center will be looked to as a defensive presence inside for the Lakers in the upcoming season.
