Grand Valley State University head football coach Matt Mitchell recently announced the hiring of Jim Louis as the new linebacker coach/co-defensive coordinator for the Lakers.

Louis will lead the defense along with secondary coach/co-defensive coordinator Nick Postma.

Louis was the defensive coordinator/linebacker coach at St. Cloud State University from 2008-2013. The team posted a combined record of 52-20 during that time, and made a trio of NCAA Division II playoff appearances.

The Huskies had the best turnover margin in the country in 2010 ( 23) and ranked third in 2013 ( 22). They also ranked 38th in points allowed last year (22.8) while GVSU ranked 49th (24.3).
