Apr 9, 2015
The Grand Valley State University facilities services department has confirmed they have received several calls about university buildings flooding on campus on April 9. These buildings include Lake Superior Hall and the connecting hallway between the Mary Idema Pew Library and the Kirkhof Center.
“With the amount of water we’re getting, we’ve got water
everywhere,” said Cheryl Fischer, a customer service representative from facilities services. “We’re not sure what the outcome is yet.”
The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has issued a flood advisory for Ottawa and Kent counties, as well as other surrounding counties. The flood warning is in effect from 2:37 p.m. until 11:30 p.m on April 9.
The National Weather Service advises individuals to exercise caution.
“Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water coves the roadway,” the weather service stated. “The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.”
