May 3, 2011
In a recent study done by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA,) more than 1.4 million people are battle the digestive diseases each year. That is why the Crohn’s and Colitis Student Initiative (CCSI) at Grand Valley State University have organized the Chrohn’s and Colitis Foundation Take Steps Walk.
President of the Crohn’s and Colitis Student Initiative, Justin Gray, has been a part of the CCFA for over 10 years and says the Take Steps Walk will give participants the opportunity to choose a one or two-mile route that will raise dollars for crucial research, patient care, education and support.
“I think the walk serves as an advocacy for those who may not fully understand these diseases or may not have ever heard of them,” Gray said.
The walk will also feature two presentations by “honored heros” who have battled and over come Crohn’s or Colitis disease.
Registration for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation Take Steps Walk will be held on Sat. at 5 p.m. and the walk starts at 6 p.m. on the Allendale Campus in the field next to the Performing Arts Center.
