GVSU joins statewide partnership to support automated vehicle technology

Grand Valley State University has joined a statewide partnership with 14 other schools that focuses on developing talent to work in the field of automated vehicle technology. The partnership is run by the American Center for Mobility (ACM), a non-profit organization that focuses on new mobility technologies. GVSU President Thomas Haas traveled to Ypsilanti, Michigan, on Tuesday, Oct. 16, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding placing GVSU in the partnership.

Padnos International Center to host passport fair

Grand Valley State University’s Padnos International Center (PIC) will host a passport fair Tuesday, Oct. 24, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Students, faculty and staff will be able to renew or apply for passports. Those participating will need to bring proof of U.S. citizenship—which could be a previous passport, a birth certificate or naturalization certificate, a driver’s license, or Michigan ID—and two separate checks totaling $135 ($110 to the U.S. Department of State, $25 to U.S. Postal Service). Passport photos can also be taken with $3 in cash and a GVSU ID.

REVIVE Conference to take place Saturday, Oct. 21

The Grand Valley State University African/African-American studies program and the Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority are cosponsoring the REVIVE Conference Saturday, Oct. 21, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Pere Marquette Room in the Kirkhof Center. The conference is designed to bring up topics such as minorities in health care, immigration and rape culture, among others.

Deadline to drop classes with a ‘W’ grade approaches

Grand Valley State University students will have until Friday, Oct. 27, to drop classes and receive a “W” letter grade. After that date, any student who chooses to drop a class must explain circumstances to the Student Academic Success Center in order to be eligible for a “W.”  

GVSU dedicates theater to Linn Maxwell Keller

On Tuesday, Oct. 17, Grand Valley State University dedicated the Keller Theatre in the Haas Center for Performing Arts to Linn Maxwell Keller, a professional singer who performed in 28 countries. Earlier this year, the Keller family established the Linn Maxwell Keller Professional Vocalist Experience Endowment at GVSU, an endowment that provides vocal performance students opportunities in their professional development.

Graduate school fair to take place Wednesday, Oct. 25

Grand Valley State University will host a graduate school fair Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Henry Hall Atrium. Schools from across Michigan, as well as the rest of the country, will have representatives present. Various programs will be on display as well.
