Armed robbery occurs on campus

It was reported to Grand Valley State University police on Nov. 6 that a man approached a student on the sidewalk at Laker Village North demanding money and displaying a handgun. The man was described as a black male, 5’10, wearing a black or gray hooded sweatshirt.

The incident happened at approximately 11:24 p.m., and the victim was not injured. The suspect left the area going westbound following the occurrence. Police searched the area with assistance from Ottawa County police and the Holland police K-9 unit.

“We are early in our investigation following up on the limited information that has been provided thus far,” said Capt. Brandon DeHaan of GVPD. “We encourage community members to bring forth any information they may have that they believe may be associated with the crime so that we can identify a suspect in this matter as soon as possible.”
