Arts at noon series to feature Schubert’s “Octet”

The Grand Valley State University Chamber Players will celebrate the music of Fran Schubert by performing one of his works, “Octet”. The performance will take place on Sept. 19, and will be held at the Cook-Dewitt Center Auditorium on the Allendale campus. This will be the second performance of the Arts at Noon series.

The Chamber Players will perform all six movements of the piece, which was written in 1824. The GVSU professors featured in the group are: Arthur Campbell on clarinet, Danny Phipps on bassoon, Richard Britsch on horn, Gregory Maytan on violin, Paul Swantek on viola, Pablo Mahave-Vegila on cello, and Michael Hovanian on bass. Visiting violinist Fangye Sun will also perform with the group.
