Grand Valley State University women’s basketball players Alex Stelfox and Jasmine Padin were named to the preseason All-GLIAC North Division team Thursday.
Stelfox, a sophomore, took first-team honors. She earned the 2009-10 GLIAC Freshman of the Year Award after leading the Lakers in scoring (12 points per game), field goal percentage (.562) and blocks (40) last season.
Padin was named to the second-team. The junior averaged 9.6 points per game in 2009-10 and led the Lakers with 51 steals.
The women’s team was selected as the preseason favorite in the GLIAC’s North Division. GVSU opens its season on Nov. 7 with an exhibition against Division I Michigan State University in East Lansing.
