Mobile voter registration unit coming to GVSU 

National Voter Registration Day is coming up on Tuesday, Sept. 26. In an effort to get people registered to vote, a mobile registration unit will be coming to Grand Valley State University’s Allendale Campus.

The Michigan Secretary of State Mobile Unit will be set up at the Cook Carillon Tower and will be available to help get people registered to vote from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Students can also register to vote at Democracy 101 sessions, a biweekly series that focuses on civic learning, or at the Community Service Learning Center (CSLC) in the Kirkhof Center.

GVSU anti-violence troupe presents healthy relationship program

ReACT!, an anti-violence peer theater education troupe at Grand Valley State University, will host its first healthy relationships program of the 2017-18 school year Tuesday, Sept. 26.

The event, which is LIB 100/201-approved, will be held in Room 2266 of the Kirkhof Center from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will feature interactive theater and discussion methods, as ReACT! student actors present scenes and raise questions about what makes a “healthy, sexy relationship.”

GVSU recognized by Princeton Review as a green college for eighth year

For the eighth year in a row, the Princeton Review has recognized Grand Valley State University as a green college. 

The universities recognized were judged based on their dedication to sustainability efforts in terms of their academic and career resources for students and campus practices, initiatives and activities.

Office of Multicultural Affairs to host Professionals of Color Lecture Series

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) at Grand Valley State University will host “Hispanics: More Than Statistics” as part of its Professionals of Color Lecture Series. 

Dr. Antonia Coella Novello, the first woman and first Hispanic to hold the position of Surgeon General of the U.S. Public Health Service, will give her lecture Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center Grand River Room.

This lecture, which is part of the OMA’s 2017 Hispanic Heritage Celebration, is LIB 100/201-approved. The Latino Student Union is also sponsoring this event.
