According to Luminosity, a program with an online tool aimed at improving brain performance, Allendale was ranked 23rd of the smartest cities in the U.S.

The rankings were based on data for more than 3 million users across the nation ages 18 to 75, who have played multiple Luminosity games. The games measure users’ cognitive performance on the five areas of attention, flexibility, memory, problem solving and processing speed.

Scores from the users’ first few playing sessions were examined across geographic areas. Other Michigan cities to crack the top 50 list were Ann Arbor (15th) and East Lansing (21st).
