Event scheduled to connect students with veterans
On Monday, Nov. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m., Grand Valley State University Housing is partnering with the GVSU Veterans Affairs to hold an events called “Get Informed, Grow Passion and Give Thanks.”
The event, which is being held at North C Living Center, will give students the opportunity to spend time with volunteer veterans and learn about how the GVSU community can better assist veterans in their transition from service.
Knowledge on how to interact and treat veterans is often overlooked, but this event aims to confront that ignorance and mistreatment. Students who attend the event will gain a better understanding of the treatment of veterans, and will also be encouraged to write letters to those currently serving or who have served.
LIB/WGS students to hold “Get Sex(Ed) Fair”
The second annual “Get Sex(Ed) Fair” is being held on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at the Kirkhof Center 2263 at 6 p.m. The event is being hosted by Liberal Studies and Women and Gender Studies students is partnership with Planned Parenthood of West Michigan, the Ottawa County Public Health Department, the Grand Rapids Red Project and the GVSU Intercultural Competence Certificate.
At the events, students will learn about sex and sexuality, as well as related available resources. The event will also include free food, stickers, condoms and sexually transmitted infections (STI) testing.
The event is LIB 201/100 approved, and all students are welcome to attend.
Hypnotist to visit GV
Spotlight Productions is a student organization that hosts events and provides entertainment for the Grand Valley State University community. On Wednesday, Nov. 28, Spotlight will welcome hypnotist Tom Deluca to GVSU.
The event will take place at 9 p.m. at the Kirkhof Center room 2250. Students who attend the show will get the chance to be hypnotized or watch their friends be hypnotized; participants will be picked on a volunteer basis.
