Senior first baseman Giancarlo Brugnoni of the Grand Valley State University baseball team has been named the GLIAC’s first Baseball Player of the Week this season.

Brugnoni, who also garnered the conference’s first Player of the Week award last spring, has been off to an impressive start through 14 games in 2014.

He leads the conference with five home runs and 13 walks, while his slugging percentage (.878) is also the highest in the conference by 264 points.

GVSU (9-5) will compete at Hillsdale College tonight before hosting its first four home games of the year this weekend at Davenport University.
