Senior defender Kayla Kimble of the No. 1 Grand Valley State University women’s soccer team was named the GLIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday after scoring the game-winning goal on a penalty kick against Lake Erie College at home on Friday night.

Kimble notched the big goal in the 76th minute of the game, which helped the Lakers cap off their undefeated regular season with a record of 16-0-1.

The Livonia, Mich., native has helped anchor a GVSU defense that allowed just one goal during the regular season.
