On Saturday Nov. 3, a rape was reported to local police shortly after midnight. The Grand Valley student reportedly told officers they had been raped after being given a drink with unknown substances in the Alpine Apartment complex located near the Allendale campus. A security alert was sent to the GVSU community the next day to notify them of the assault. 

The case was being investigated by the Ottawa County Sherifs Office because the act occurred at an off-campus apartment. 

Ottawa County investigators determined on Tuesday that the rape in question did not occur and nobody had been drugged at the party. No information has been released further on the matter. The question remains if the student who reported this rape will see repercussions for false reporting.
