April 11th, 2015 marks the 19th annual Wheel Run Together 5K run/walk in support of Alternatives in Motion (AIM) (www.alternativesinmotion.org). AIM’s mission is to provide quality used and refurbished wheelchairs, and routine wheelchair repair services to individuals and families demonstrating financial need in order to promote independent, healthy and active lifestyles. These services can be extremely costly, and thus AIM provides a valuable service to support the independence of all members of the community – including those that would otherwise be unable to afford a wheelchair of their own.

Since AIM was founded in 1995, on more than 1,250 occasions they have donated wheelchairs or provided wheelchair repair services free of charge to persons in need. Additionally, with your support, the GVSU community has raised almost $100,000 for AIM over the last 19 years.

Each year, students of the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Grand Valley State University organize The Wheel Run Together 5K fundraiser to raise money to support AIM. In order to make this race successful, we need your help! The 19th Annual Wheel Run Together will take place at the Kirkhof Center on GVSU’s main campus in Allendale on April 11th, 2015. With the exception of minimal funds to pay for the race, all money received from sponsors, donations and race registration fees will go directly to helping Alternatives in Motion give wheelchairs to those in need.

The Wheel Run Together 5K is a family friendly event – bring your dogs and strollers! Winners in each age group will receive a $25 gift card from Gazelle’s. Other chances to win include a variety of raffle prizes with donations from local businesses, including one night stay at the Bay Pointe Inn, an entry into the Riverbank Run and one month of unlimited yoga from Funky Buddha.
