Chorale concert to be held Wednesday, Oct. 25

The Grand Valley State University Arts Chorale and Cantate Chamber Ensemble will perform in a concert Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the Cook-DeWitt Center at 7:30 p.m.

The University Arts Chorale is made up of 35 voices and performs consistently throughout the school year. The Cantate Chamber Ensemble is a small group of singers who perform a cappella music, tying together secular and spiritual genres of music. GVSU Professor Ellen Pool will be directing the chorale concert.

International students to host Halloween Carnival

For Grand Valley State University students looking for a local and engaging day of fun, international students at GVSU will be holding a Halloween Carnival from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, in the Kirkhof Center.

The Halloween Carnival will include games, treats, pumpkin carving and costumes. The event offers GVSU students an opportunity to spend time with and get to know GVSU international students in a fun and social environment.

‘Feminist Film Friday’

The Grand Valley State University Gayle R. Davis Center for Women and Gender Equity (CWGE) will be hosting its monthly “Feminist Film Friday” this Friday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center.

Feminist Film Friday occurs every month with a different film each time. GVSU students who attend are able to watch a film with a feminist framework and have a discussion about it afterward, typically facilitated by CWGE employees.

Genetic Update Conference to be held Monday, Oct. 30

The Sam Rhine Annual Genetic Update Seminar will be held in Grand Valley State University’s Kirkhof Center in the Grand River Room Monday, Oct. 30, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

The conference is primarily for high school teachers and high school students, and will feature the most up-to-date discoveries in medical genetics and tissue engineering. Covering topics from cancer mutations to inheritance, the event aims to educate those who attend about the newest advancements in genetic technology and their applications and potentially influence future career decisions.
