Nancy Harper, a former Grand Valley State University dean of social sciences and director of ALERT labs, died on March 19. Harper specialized in persuasive communication, specifically in preventing underage drinking and drug use. There will be a memorial and remembrance celebration April 14 at 10 a.m. located at the North Alano Club in Grand Rapids.
