Master class for trombone players of Grand Valley
Sep 16, 2012
A master class held on September 17th will provide an opportunity for Grand Valley State University students to learn from an experienced, skilled trombonist.
Kenneth Tompkins, principal trombonist for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra since 1997, will be conducting a master class at the Cook-DeWitt Center this Monday. Tompkins has been invited to perform and conduct many master classes at music schools across the country, and GVSU will be included in the list of those that he visits. The trombone master has previously been a part of the Florida Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic, and has performed under artistic director Michael Tilson Thomas for the New World Orchestra. The master class starts at 8p.m., and the event is free and open to the public.
