Feb 23, 2012
Football is one of the America’s favorite pastimes, but 100 years ago, football as we know it was under attack from all directions. It was saved only by the conviction of an American president.
Football’s troubled history and Theodore Roosevelt’s love of the game will be the subject of “The Big Scrum — How Teddy Roosevelt Saved Football,” an event hosted by Grand Valley State University’s Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies.
The event will take place Tuesday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids.
