Junior midfielder Charlie Socia of the No. 2 Grand Valley State University women’s soccer team has
been named the GLIAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week. Socia set the tone quickly for
GVSU (2-0-1) less than five minutes into the game on Sunday, scoring the winning goal in a 2-0
victory over No. 4 Minnesota State University-Mankato. It was the team’s second straight victory over a
ranked opponent.

The Portage, Mich., native has played in all 50 contests in her first two seasons with the team and was
named to the All-GLIAC second team as a sophomore.

The team returns to action on the road tomorrow at Ashland University at 3 p.m.
