GVSU hosts cyber security exercise

Grand Valley State University, in collaboration with the West Michigan Cyber Security Consortium, hosted a cyber security training exercise on July 24. Michigan’s government websites are reported to be attacked by hackers over 10,000 times per day. The event, which was organized by the Michigan Cyber Range and Merit Network, was an effort to prepare for such attacks. The exercise involved two teams – one hacking and the other trying to stop the hacking attempts. This kind of training may be able to prevent the country from losing an estimated $18 billion in intellectual property and opportunity costs every year.
