The Sustainable Community Development Initiative announced Friday that it is taking applications for projects to be awarded through its new Community Reinvestment Fund.

SCDI Project Manager Bart Bartels said the fund will provide start-up capital for projects like energy saving or recycling ideas that will add value to the campus community.

A committee of faculty and staff members will review applications and oversee loan and grant disbursement with Wendy Wenner, dean of the Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies, serving as the committee chair.

Committee member Brian Copeland, assistant vice president for Business and Finance, said the reinvestment fund totals $35,000, and most projects will be funded for less than $5,000.

The application is available online at www.gvsu.edu/sustainability. The deadline for applications is Nov. 15.
