Senior Kristen Hixson of the No. 2 Grand Valley State University women’s indoor track and field team has been named the GLIAC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season.

Hixson improved her Division II-leading mark in the pole vault at the Hillsdale Classic over the weekend by clearing a height of 4.20 meters, extending her previous mark by four inches. It is among the top 20 marks set this year across all divisions of the NCAA.

GVSU athletes have now won the weekly GLIAC award three times in the first four weeks this season.

The Lakers will return to action this weekend at the GVSU Big Meet inside the Kelly Family Sports Center on Friday and Saturday.
