Art exhibit links student communities

The Grand Valley State University Mary Idema Pew Library Learning and Information Commons art exhibit “Tied Together: An Interactive Visualization of Community Ties” is a recurring event that will be hosted from Wednesday, Aug. 16, to Friday, Sept. 24.

The exhibit, which will be located in the library’s Exhibition Space, is an interactive art project that will allow students to tie a thread around words they think represent them and their journeys to GVSU.

Campus Life Night to occur Tuesday, Sept. 5

Campus Life Night, the on-campus event in which hundreds of student clubs and organizations—as well as several departmental campus resources—set up their tables and give out information and fun freebies, is set to take place Tuesday, Sept. 5.

More than 400 registered student organizations, as well as businesses and non-profit organizations, are planning to be present at the event, located in Parking Lot H on the Allendale Camus, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. As the event will take place outdoors, a backup date of Sunday, Sept. 10, has been chosen in case of rain.

Meijer Mania at Standale Meijer

An event for incoming freshmen and returning students alike, Meijer Mania will be occurring Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Standale Meijer location. The event, which is set to happen after freshman move-in, provides an opportunity for students to bond with their new roommates and other students.

Meijer Mania is an event that has evolved into a tradition to many Grand Valley State University students. Late at night, GVSU students go into Meijer to find what resembles a giant party: music, dancing and a huge amount of college students. Meijer employees are armed with samples of nearly everything at the event, which happens annually.

Meijer Mania will start at 8 p.m., and shuttles will be running from GVSU to the store to transport students.
