The Grand Valley State University theatre department announced three titles for their fal lineup, with auditions beginning on September 20.

The auditions are not limited to just theater majors, but “anyone – student, faculty, staff, community member, can audition,” said Jack Lane, house and box office manager of the Louis Armstrong Theatre in GVSU’s Preforming Arts Center.

“An Identified Enemy,” an original play on the Iraq War directed by GVSU theatre professor Roger Ellis, runs Nov. 9-17. They are looking for seven women and nine men to complete the show’s cast.

Also casting are two student-directed, Studio Series shows that debut Dec. 7-9.
“Wasp”, a satirical comedic play about a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant family, directed by student Kevin Raleigh, is looking to cast three women and three men.

Directed by GVSU student Lydia Benkert, “The Most Massive Woman Wins” is casting four women to take on comedic roles that tackle issues surrounding body image. All students interested in auditioning should prepare one, one-minute monologue. Ellis encouraged students to check out GVSU’s Zumberge library for anyone in need of material.

“The directors need to see if students can speak well, can look up from the page and relate to the other actor, can move and talk at the same time, and have some vocal and physical expressiveness that is appropriate for the roles in the play,” Ellis said.

Auditions will be held in the Performing Arts Center, room 1506 on Sept. 20 from 4-7 p.m. and again on Sept. 21 from 5-7 p.m. Students must sign up prior to auditions in the PAC lobby from noon to 5 p.m.
