Microaggression management workshop to be held Monday, March 12
As part of the winter 2018 Asian-American and Pacific Islander Heritage Celebration, the Grand Valley State University Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) will be hosting a workshop centered on addressing and managing microaggressions on Monday, Mar. 12, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center, Room 2215/2216.
The event will be led by licensed psychologist Hsiao-Wen Lo. The purpose of the workshop is to help participants understand the cognitive, emotional and behavioral impact of microaggressions. In conjunction, participants will learn tools and strategies to manage those effects and address the aggressive situation in ways that promote social justice.

Comedian Drew Lynch to perform Tuesday, March 13
Grand Valley State University’s Spotlight Productions is set to host comedian Drew Lynch on Tuesday, Mar. 13, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. in th DeVos Center Loosemore Auditorium as part of the LaughFest celebration.
Lynch was the first runner-up on season 10 of the television series “America’s Got Talent,” where he gave a performance earning him a golden buzzer. Taking hold of his stutter and utilizing it in his comedy, Lynch delivers stand-up that comes off as both personal and honest.
The event will be free, and there will be free refreshments as well. For those who want a VIP experience, sign-ups for the VIP list are located in the hospitality and tourism management office in the DeVos Center, 218C.

Faith and Feminism Panel to be held Thursday, March 15
Grand Valley State University Campus Interfaith Resources is set to host an event called “Faith and Feminism: A Panel on Marriage in Different Faith Traditions” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Kirkhof Center Grand River Room on Thursday, March 15.
The panel is in conjunction with the GVSU Community Reading Project book, “All the Single Ladies: Unmarried Women and the Rise of an Independent Nation.” This specific panel will feature women from various spiritual traditions discussing the roles and meaning of marriage in their respective religious and faith practices, as well as the intersectionality of feminism and religious identity.

Study-abroad funding workshop being held Friday, March 16
The Grand Valley State University Padnos International Center (PIC) will be hosting a workshop about study-abroad funding from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Lake Ontario Hall, Room 130, on Friday, March 16.
Attendees will learn about different sources of study-abroad funding, including financial aid, scholarships, grants, loans and more.
