Resume workshop being held Wednesday, Sept. 27

In order to assist Grand Valley State University students in their respective job searches, the GVSU Career Center is hosting an event called “How to Write a Resume.” 

The workshop, set to be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, in Room 2266 of the Kirkhof Center, will enable GVSU students to work on their resumes with professional assistance from the Career Center.

Students who attend the workshop will be given the opportunity to work on a new resume from scratch or improve a resume they already have. Information on structure and content will be given, as well as a general look into the services provided by the Career Center. Students are advised to attend the workshop before making individual appointments with the Career Center.

‘Unnatural Causes’ documentary series

For interested students at Grand Valley State University, a documentary series called “Unnatural Causes”—depicting how health can be impacted by factors like race, gender, socioeconomic status and geographic location—will be shown over the course of seven weeks.

The first showing will be Thursday, Sept. 28, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Room 2266 of the Kirkhof Center. All of the documentaries aim to answer the question of whether inequality is making us sick and will be followed by instructor-led discussion.

The Well worship gathering

For Grand Valley State University students who are interested in Christian worship, Campus Ministry at Grand Valley State University will be hosting The Well worship service Sunday, Sept. 24, from 7 p.m. to  8:15 p.m. and again at 9 p.m. at the Cook-DeWitt Center.

The Well is a weekly gathering of students involving worship music, messages from Campus Ministry teachers and group conversations throughout the evening. There will also be snacks provided for attendees.

‘Paper of the Past’

Mandy Ross, founder of “Paper of the Past,” will be showing a vintage scrapbook collection and discussing what stories the scrapbooks can tell about the past Friday, Sept. 29, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Grand Valley State University’s Siedman House.

Ross will also explain her motivation behind curating a vintage scrapbook collection and will talk about an 80-year-old scrapbook made up of 40 letters and how it brought her across the world.
