Campus Rec to host Family Weekend 5K
Come visit Grand Valley State University on Saturday, Sept. 22 for the Family Weekend 5K, hosted by Campus Recreation.
This run/walk course starts at 9 a.m. and will go through the GVSU Allendale campus. The race will have professional timing and results by PrimeNRG, and medals will be awarded to winners. The race is partnered with multiple student organizations and organization codes can be entered during registration to support their initiatives.
Registration for the 5K is open through Sept. 21. The event is being held during Family Weekend, and is an opportunity for families to come together, get active and have fun.

“The Jungle Book” auditions open Thursday
The Department of Music, Theatre and Dance is hosting open auditions for their Mainstage production of Monica Flory’s “The Jungle Book” on Thursday, Sept. 13 and Friday, Sept. 14. The play is an adaptation of the popular Disney film, following a young boy’s wild coming of age story.
Students of all majors and minors are invited to room 1721 in the Haas Center for Performing Arts at 5 p.m. to audition. Call backs will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. if necessary.
The production is scheduled to run Nov. 9-18, featuring seven public performances and a weekday matinee.

GV to celebrate decade of Sustainable Agriculture Project
Grand Valley State University is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the Sustainable Agriculture Project. In honor of this milestone, the GVSU Sustainable Agriculture Project is holding its annual Harvest Party.
The celebration will include games, music and a potluck dinner. The event is being held at Luce St. Farm on Friday, Sept. 14 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Fall Arts Celebration puts spotlight on Mars with new exhibit
A reception for “Mars: Astronomy and Culture” will be held Sept. 13 from 5-7 p.m. in the Haas Center for Performing Arts. Guests will be able to view the exhibit, as well as tour the planet’s surface using a virtual reality headset
“Mars: Astronomy and Culture” explores the physical and cultural atmosphere surrounding the Red Planet. It is the first in a series of public art demonstrations that are a part of GVSU’s Fall Arts Celebration.
