Football finishes third in final AFCA poll

The Grand Valley State University football team capped off its season as the third-ranked team in the nation according to the AFCA Coaches’ Poll after advancing to the NCAA Division II National semifinals before falling 27-13 to eventual National Champion Northwest Missouri State University.
GVSU (12-3) also garnered a number of individual accolades after its season came to a close.
Senior center Matt Armstrong was tabbed as the 2013 Rimington Award winner (nation’s top offensive center) and was runner-up for the Gene Upshaw Award (nation’s top interior lineman). He was listed as a First-Team All-American by the AFCA, Daktronics, Inc. and the Associated Press Little America Team.
Sophomore tight end Jamie Potts was also selected as a Daktronics First-Team All-American.
