Women’s tennis finishes the year with a third place finish

The Grand Valley State University women’s tennis team finished the fall season with a third-place finish over Tiffin University in the GLIAC Tournament.

The Lakers defeated Tiffin 5-2 in the consolation third-place match.

GVSU entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed, and finished the season with an overall record of 13-4.

Senior Lexi Rice and junior Carola Orna picked up the top doubles victory, 8-4, while juniors Kelly Trapp and Kristina Lucas scored an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

GVSU managed to pick up a few wins in singles action. Orna won her No. 4 singles match, 6-0, 6-1. Trapp took a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles, and Lucas took a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 victory as well.

In the GLIAC Championship match, Northwood University defeated Wayne State University 5-2. Northwood eliminated GVSU in the semifinals.
