Robbers caught near campus

Four out-of-town men were apprehended by the Ottawa County Sheriff Department around 10 p.m. last night after conducting a late-night robbery.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Keith Garvelink, an unnamed 21-year-old man was held up at gunpoint at the Copper Beach Townhomes in the 10 thousand block of 48th Avenue and Peirce Street. The victim was not hurt in the incident.
Patrol units pulled over the getaway car heading eastbound down Lake Michigan Drive and apprehended two men from the Detroit area and two men from the Grand Rapids area after finding a handgun in the vehicle.
The four men are currently lodged in the Ottawa County Jail awaiting arraignment on robbery and weapons charges. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
