Two of Grand Valley State University’s Music Department professors will be getting together on stage on Sept. 17 to perform for students.
Affiliate Professor Gregory Crowell will be performing in a short harpsichord recital from 6p.m. to 7p.m., and will be joined on stage by Associate Professor Pablo Majave-Veglia.

“This will be a relatively short program (about forty minutes) displaying music that shows off the very special instrument that I will bring for the occasion, which is a copy of a large German instrument from 1728,” Crowell said.

“The concert presents an opportunity to show the very special bond between music and instrument … a player cannot expect an audience to be moved unless he, too, is moved by his performance” Crowell said, “That is what we, as performers, strive for. The idea is not to provide an experience that is a diversion from daily life, but one that enriches it.”

“Also, I am being joined in this concert by GVSU’s professor of cello, Pablo Mahave-Veglia. Together we will play a wonderfully colorful and expressive sonata by Bach,” Crowell said.
The performance will take place in the Art Gallery in the Performing Arts Center. It is free and open to the students, alumni and the public.
