Tennis players honored by GLIAC

Coming off a runner-up finish at GLIAC Tournament last weekend, three players on the Grand Valley State University women’s tennis team have been acknowledged as All-GLIAC performers.

Led by senior Tara Hayes, who earned All-GLIAC first team honors, the Lakers saw Hayes, freshman Leah Dancz and sophomore Niki Shipman honored.

The trio helped GVSU to a 13-3 overall record, with a 9-2 mark in the GLIAC. Their regular season has finished, but the team will return to action in the spring for the national tournament.

Club rugby to host National Tournament

After successful seasons by both the men’s and women’s club rugby teams here at Grand Valley State University, the teams will get to continue their seasons on campus as GVSU will host the first round of the Midwest regional playoffs.

The women, who are currently ranked No. 2 in the nation, will play against Ball State University on Saturday, and then against the winner or loser of the Loyola University Chicago-Slippery Rock University game on Sunday in a consolation/championship match.

On the other side, the men will face off against Northern Illinois University on Saturday, then against the winner or lose of the Central Michigan University-Xavier University on Sunday.
