GVSU Signs Five Recruits

Head coach Janel Burgess of the Grand Valley State University women’s basketball team announced that the team has received five National Letters of Intent. Three of the five commits played high school basketball in the state of Michigan. Keyera Wiard earned all-state honorable mention while playing for Oakridge High School. Piper Tucker is from East Lansing High School. She was a three-time academic all-state selection. Janae Langs was an all-state guard at Climax-Scott High School. Kayla Dawson (DePere, Wis.) and Taylor Lutz (Granger, Ind.) will also join the team for the 2013 season. Dawson was the captain of DePere High School. The 5-10 forward led her team to a Wisconsin state title in 2012. Lutz played three years at guard for Penn High School in Indiana. She broke the single-season assist record in 2011.
