Founders CEO to give lecture at Pew Campus

At face value, beer and business don’t mix. But over the last several years, innovations in American brewing styles have paved the way for the successful business of the American microbrewery. For Mike Stevens, co-owner of Founders Brewing Company, craft beer developed from beverage to hobby to career, and he went from just-out-of-college beer enthusiast to CEO of the second-ranked brewery in the entire world.
On Sept. 20 at 5:15 p.m. in the Pew Campus’ DeVos building 302E, Stevens will give a short lecture on his personal success, how to approach the business world, and what it takes to run an excellent brewery.
The event was organized by Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM), a new student organization open to all majors.
“Our hopes are for students to learn a little bit about the brewing industry and the potential for growth in the industry,” said Eric Madden, vice president of SAM.
Thursday’s event is open to all GVSU students.
