GVSU Tennis shuts out Purdue Northwest
The Grand Valley state women’s tennis team improved to 4-0 this weekend in a dominant win over Purdue Northwest, 7-0, on Saturday, Oct. 5.
For the first time this season, each Laker posted a win in the singles competition column, with Vera Griva, Taylor Barrett, Marija Leko, Marily Canellopoulos, Liv Hanover and Agata Szewczuk each earning wins from their respective spots.
It was more of the same domination in the doubles competition. Canellopoulos and Griva won 7-5 from the No. 1 spot and Hanover and Szewczuk teamed up to win and round out the team’s shutout
GVSU Tennis dominates Davenport on Sunday
The Grand Valley State women’s tennis team defeated Davenport, 7-0, on Sunday, Oct. 6, at home. The Lakers improve to 5-0 on the season following the shut out.
Every singles player won their respective matches, with Taylor Barrett and Agata Szewcuk not even surrendering a point, as they each won their matches, 6-0, 6-0.
After the weekend sweep, the Lakers will look to remain undefeated on the year as they host Michigan Tech and Lake Superior State this weekend, Oct. 12-13.
Laker Dance Team to host fall clinic
The Grand Valley State Laker Dance Team will be hosting their annual fall clinic on Sunday, Oct. 27, at the GVSU Rec Center on courts 4-5.
Prior to the clinic, the team will be hosting a meeting for all prospective 2020-2021 LDT members to introduce coaches and captains, provide an overview of the program and answer any questions regarding the college dance team experience.
High school juniors and seniors, along with transfer students, are encouraged to attend both the meeting and the clinic. For more information, you can register for the events on GVSU Recreation & Wellness page.
