This semester’s Whale Radio shows

Streaming 24 hours a day, Whale Radio is Grand Valley State University’s student-run radio station operating out of the Kirkhof Center. The station, officially known as WCKS The Whale, serves as a creative and professional outlet for students interested in audio media.

Run entirely by students, Whale Radio allows participants the opportunity to create and manage original programming. Whale Radio’s programming lineup is organized by semester. Each term, new shows are added and returning hosts adjust their formats, resulting in an updated schedule.

The shows, which are developed by the hosts, range from music-focused broadcasts to talk-based and experimental formats, offering a wide variety of content throughout the week. The station also functions as a learning environment for the students involved, providing hands-on experience in broadcasting, audio production and media organization. Students from all majors can participate with no prior radio experience required.

Programming is divided into time slots across the week, allowing listeners to tune in to a range of genres and themes. Shows may be live or prerecorded, depending on host availability and scheduling needs.

As the winter semester progresses, Whale Radio aims to be a platform for student expression and media experience at GVSU. Below is a schedule of the station’s shows, according to its on-air schedule.
