Women’s lacrosse team announces team captains for 2020

The Grand Valley State women’s lacrosse team and head coach Mackenzie Lawler have announced the naming of the 2020 team captains. Junior Sophie Conroy and seniors Anna Gritter, Megan Yoshida and Sarah Staggard will lead the team in coach Lawler’s second season as head coach.

“We are very excited to have Sarah, Megan, Anna and Sophie as our captains for the 2020 season,” Lawler said.  “As a coaching staff we look forward to continuing their leadership development to help our team achieve our goal of a GLIAC Championship and post-season appearance.”

As a returning team captain, Stagaard scored 40 goals and dished out five assists in her junior season. Stagaard controlled 37 draws, good for third on the team and 17^th best in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and earned All-GLIAC Second Team honors.

GVSU kicks off the 2020 season at Lake Erie on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m.

Laker Dance team announces fifth annual Youth Dance Clinic

The Laker Dance Team of Grand Valley State University will host their 5th annual Youth Dance Clinic for K-8 students on Saturday, Feb. 8. The event will take place in the GVSU Recreation Center courts 4 & 5.

Youth clinic participants will have the opportunity to work directly with the Laker Dance Team and can expect a fun-filled day with various activities for kids to learn from and enjoy. Together, participants and Laker Dance Team members will prepare a fun routine that will be showcased for family, friends and fans at the halftime of the GVSU Women’s Basketball game. No prior dance experience is required.
