Boensch earns GLIAC player of the year as GVSU WBB earns bevy of awards

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the All-Conference and Player of the Year award winners at the conference tournament banquet on the campus of Ashland University Friday night. Grand Valley State University took home eight all-conference awards by five different players. Senior center Cassidy Boensch was the headliner as she was named GLIAC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Boensch was joined on the All-GLIAC First Team by senior guard Jenn DeBoer and senior forward Maddie Dailey, while Boensch, Dailey, senior guard Victoria Hedemark and senior guard Taryn Taugher were named to the GLIAC All-Defensive Team.

Three Lakers earn All-GLIAC honors for men’s basketball

Three Grand Valley State Lakers have earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) honors for the 2019-2020 season

Junior Jake Van Tubbergen is a first team All-GLIAC performer while senior Jeremiah Ferguson and Christian Negron each earn second team honors. Negron was also named to the GLIAC All-Defensive team. The awards were announced by GLIAC Commissioner Kris Dunbar during Friday (March 6) night’s banquet, held on the campus of Grand Valley State, ahead of the GLIAC Tournament’s final two rounds this weekend.

GVSU women’s tennis defeats Concordia-New York, 5-2

The #24 Grand Valley State women’s tennis team claimed a 5-2 victory over Concordia-New York in its Florida finale. The Lakers are now 18-3 overall and will continue a non-conference slate.
